You may have heard advice to alternate rows between two skeins of a hand-dyed yarn to avoid "pooling"; that's when the same colour keeps reappearing in the same place on your project, sometimes in a fun way but risking just looking like a splotch. But what if you "assigned" a different stitch texture every time you came to the contrast colour, making it a feature rather than a bug? That was designer and dyer Dawn Barker's thinking when she developed Assigned Pooling! Assigned Pooling can be done with any multicolour yarn that has one colour that stands out noticeably from the rest, but Dream in Colour has developed a stunning colour collection specifically to let this technique shine.
