Title: Digital Merchandising & Marketing Coordinator

Reporting to: Lindsay Schafer, Co-Owner

Employment Type: Full-time

Preferred Hours: 10am-6pm Monday-Friday

Employment Location: Work-from-home, Lower Mainland or Vancouver Island / Sunshine Coast preferred. Optional hybrid up to 50% on-site office time available at our store office in West Point Grey, Vancouver.

Salary: $20/hour gross + extended medical/dental

Key Objectives: We are looking for an entrepreneurial, results driven E-Commerce Marketing Coordinator to join the Urban Yarns team. You are passionate about all things e-commerce and helping our business grow. We need someone to optimize our e-commerce website, implement marketing strategies including through social media, email newsletter, and SEO, and be our well-rounded marketing coordinator. This position will begin working closely with ownership, with outside mentorship from Crisp Media as needed, then with demonstrated independence and results can become a managerial-level position in responsibility and salary.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support e-commerce marketing initiatives and drive qualified traffic to our website.
  • Create and implement marketing strategies to advertise our products on various platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Ravelry, etc.)
  • Create content and written copy for email campaigns, social media posts, advertisements, etc. 
  • Schedule and post created content in line with marketing strategies, utilizing automation where appropriate.
  • Support weekly business reporting by providing insights and key metrics on campaign performances.
  • Perform product and keyword research to identify opportunities.
  • Custom build product lists to support editorial and email marketing, using knowledge of stock availability to ensure lists are up to date.
  • Research and analyze customer data and identify industry trends.
  • Assist in ensuring all products are beautifully and strategically merchandised across the site.
  • Daily monitoring of incoming products to ensure listing pages are maintained and updated.
  • Regular auditing of available products online to ensure it is appropriately represented online and in store.
  • Liaise with brands to merchandise the site to maximize sales.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Digital savvy marketer with sales focus to help maximize conversion and cross selling.
  • Previous experience in e-commerce with preference to BigCommerce.
  • Knowledge and experience with social media marketing and basic graphic design (eg. Canva).
  • Highly computer literate.
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills required.
  • Proactive and highly motivated team player.
  • Must be detail-orientated, deadline-driven, and able to multi-task with solid organizational and time-management skills.

Valuable Additional Skills and Experience:

  • General knowledge of yarn and knitting supplies.
  • Knowledge and experience with Ravelry.com
  • Experience using a computerized inventory database in a retail or wholesale setting
  • Search Engine Optimization, Google Shopping, Google Ads
  • Customer service and/or customer tech support in any setting
  • Strong reference(s) from a previous work-from-home position
