Product Description

The farmer of this fibre is Shivani Howe, co-founder and head teacher at Ishtadev Niwas Ashram & Farm in Ta-Ta Creek, BC (near Kimberley). This non-profit yoga ashram supports itself through donations, student and retreat fees, selling homemade breads, honey, eggs, & produce at the local farmer's market, and by raising a small flock of Shetland sheep, alpacas, & angora goats. These animals are hand-sheared, and various fine fiber blends are mill-spun into undyed single-origin yarn that is rustic yet heavenly soft.

Every so often Shivani reserves some of the mohair roving, however, to hand-dye and hand-spin into a masterpiece. A 16-hour labour of love produced eight precious 50 gram skeins of this 2-ply 100% kid mohair inspired by Krishna, the farm's peacock.

Niwas Natural Fibers are available to the public exclusively through Urban Yarns at our Point Grey, Vancouver location and online.
