Product Description

Plötulopi is an unspun, single ply of Icelandic wool (plötulopi means "unspun plates"). It is fragile to knit, however due to the length of its fibres, it knits into a sweater that is both sturdy and soft.  Continental knitting technique is recommended as it permits control with very loose tension, however any technique such as English knitting, crochet, or weaving (weft only) may be used as long as the tension is kept loose enough to not strain the fibres until they are supported as part of the resulting fabric.

Plötulopi can be worked one, two or more plies at a time, depending on how bulky a yarn you want. Gently hand-wind the required number of strands together into a loose ball by taking the end from the centre and the end from the outside of the plate(s).
