Product Description

The name Hollow Tree is inspired by the iconic landmark in Stanley Park, Vancouver – an 800 year old Western Red Cedar tree, the provincial tree of British Columbia. As a former forester planting trees throughout the mountains and valleys of the Pacific Northwest, the creator of these candles discovered her passion for trees; the sanctuary they provided, the scents they gave off, the inspiration they created. She spent many years exploring the forests in British Columbia and has gathered her stories and articulated them in an art form, creating a line of pure beautiful candles.

Hollow Tree scents are distilled in Grasse, France by the master parfumerie. Each scent blend is inspired by the aromas of pacific northwest forests and hand-poured in a studio in Whistler, B.C. into a custom made ceramic container. Using a proprietary blend of premium coconut wax, Hollow Tree candles have a burn time of up to 60 hours. To ensure this, their wicks are made of the finest cotton so they burn cleaner and longer.

See below for the profiles of the select scents that Urban Yarns currently carries. If you do not see one of these scents in the thumbnail photos or drop-menu, it is because it is temporarily sold out and will be restocked soon.

Brandywine Meadow (Pomegranate Noir) - Rose floral bouquets delicately wrapped in notes of blackberry and entwined with droplets of leather.

Canoe (Pine Needles) - In celebration of Canada’s 150 years of Confederation, Hollow Tree has created a special limited edition scent. Inspired by the European explorers who voyaged through Canada’s endless forests. “What sets a canoeing expedition apart is that it purifies you more rapidly and inescapably than any other. Travel a thousand miles by train and you are a brute; pedal five hundred on a bicycle and you remain basically a bourgeois; paddle a hundred in a canoe and you are already a child of nature.” ~ Pierre Elliot Trudeau

Kermode Bear (Snowed Pinecones) - A cluster of freshly fallen snow dusted pinecones scattered on the alpine forest floor. A swirling of pine, cedar, and vanilla notes evoke winter's edge.

Lichen (Labdanum Resin) - Lichen; gilding the branches of an old growth hemlock, capturing the rainwater that gently cascades upon the forested canopies of the Pacific Northwest. Delicately nurtured by the mists, transforming into winter forage, nourishing the mountain caribou. Labdanum's scent is variously described as amber, animalic, sweet, woody, ambergris, dry musk, or leather.

Raven (Black Pepper) - An elusive union of lavendar florals with rare spiced oriental black pepper, creating a mystery in the depths of a cedar forest.
