Product Description

Take a deep breath… the next step in your knitting adventure starts here.  You know the basics; let’s take the next step and broaden your skill set.  Sandra will guide you through advanced techniques to improve your finished project, from the importance of gauge swatching for best results, integral finishing elements in your garment construction, stitch pattern instruction (think cables, lace, brioche, etc.), couture techniques employed by eminent designers, and the end game of blocking, seaming and optional embellishments.

Prerequisites:  Knowledge of knitting basics such as: knit, purl, cast-on, cast-off, and basic increase and decrease techniques.

Supplies (not included): Pattern, yarn, and needles/notions called for in pattern. Students are to choose their own project(s) and bring either a work in progress or supplies to start a new project to the first class. Urban Yarns staff are available during regular store hours to assist in choosing a project and supplies.

About Sandra:

As well as being an incurable knitting addict, Sandra has completed Catherine Lowe’s 3-day Basic Techniques of Couture Knitting workshop and is currently working through the Nihon Vogue course content with Jean Wong. Sandra is committed to continual learning and improvement of her skills - she has even learned a thing or two from her students over the years. She teaches at both Urban Yarns locations and has been with the shop since it first opened in 2004.
